This forum is a place for you to ask for technical support from Paglo staff and from the community.

When you ask a question it is very helpful if you can include the following information:

  • What were you trying to do? Tell us the steps to repeat the problem.
  • What happened?
  • What did you expect to happen?
  • If the issue is visual, please include a screenshot (you can email the screenshot directly if it shows any private data).
  • Include any search queries you ran.

If you have a question that relates to your data and don’t want to ask it publicly, you can also get support by emailing support@paglo.com.

Hello, Paglo Crawler has detected several Unknowns that do not exist on my home network. I’ve scanned for AP’s, and everything, but these rogue’s just don’t exist. Could a port scanning tool like APS or Nessus cause these false positives? I’m pretty sure that’s what it is, but how long untill they fall off the scope if that is indeed the cause?

Unknown devices without much information could also be created by other users connecting to your wireless AP, though that wouldn’t be possible if you are using WEP or WPA. The Paglo Crawler does do some passive monitoring and so could have picked up IP addresses from scanning tools if they are spoofing addresses.

Paglo won’t automatically remove any device from your inventory.

How can I manually remove these unknowns from my unknown folder?

The Inventory items can be manually re-classified, but they can not be deleted.

Well, since there are erroneous entries, there must be a way to remove them. I mean the Nessus scan I performed triggered this I’m sure of it, so I know there aren’t 14 AP’s or new devices on my network!

Point well taken. We will make this available in a future release. Thank you.

Am i required to download paglo crawler in order to use search functionality? My search index is empty but i don’t want to download crawler and index anything about the network until i get approval. Is there a general search index that i can use to search without using crawler?

Yes, you do need to download and run the Paglo Crawler. The reason is that the data that is collected is about your environment. However, note that by default it will only run on the subnet that it is connected to and you can further restrict it.

You can read about our security policies and we would be happy to demo what you can do with Paglo to you before you get started.

BTW, there are a few online demos here as well. They are a bit dated, but give you a sense of the power of Paglo.

If you are interested in a demo on Monday, send an email to support at paglo dot com.

Have a good weekend.

Hi Chris,

I’m a total NooB to Paglo and wanted to try it out and see how easy it is to use. I’m trying to set up the crawler in a test environment with a single laptop computer. I’m running Windows XP Pro on a wireless network with a Lynksis router. The Firewall on the OS is off and I am using an Admin account for the initial set up and testing.
After downloading the crawler I tested the connection during the crawler set up process and ran into this error:

The crawler failed to connect to the target host
Could not connect to 192.168.1.125 (0X80041064)

A search off of the community has revealed nothing. Could you clarify what is happening here?

Thanks for your time

Shawn

So there is only a single computer in your network and it is the computer the Crawler is running on? In this case the only computer the Crawler will scan will be the local computer.

Based on the message you posted, the Crawler has found something else in the network with an IP address of 192.168.1.125 (maybe the router?) and this device appears to offer Windows networking services, but it is refusing to allow connections.

I need to know a little more about the the configuration of your network to give a more definitive answer, i.e. what the devices are on the network and what their IP addresses are.

Okay I aplogize for not being clearer. There is only one PC hooked up to a wireless router, which than goes out to the internet through a cable modem. I have set a static IP for the computer, as 192.168.1.125. The router IP is the default Lynksis IP address.

Yes the Crawler should only scan the one computer I have. In this test I wanted to see what would be grabbed by the Crawler as far as software management was concerned.

Aha, now I think I understand. The error message you received was when you clicked on the Test button while entering the credential for the local machine, right? There is no need to enter a credential for the local machine, so if there is only one computer on the network you can skip the credentials altogether. Paglo will still collect information from that computer.
